** Cause of death for missing Virginia paramedic/firefighter was suicide, medical examiner says

** A volunteer Prince George’s County, Maryland paramedic/firefighter, shot four times April 15th while responding to a call, has been released from hospital. That is the word from NBC Washington (April 24) which said Kevin Swain, 19, was let go Saturday. According to the news service, Swain was doing a wellness check with fellow medic John Ulmschneider when the patient fired through a door. Ulmschneider died on the spot. Later accounts indicated the patient believed the medics were robbers. No charges have been laid in the case. ** A female Virginia paramedic/firefighter, who disappeared April 13th, committed suicide. That is the word from WFMY (April 23) which quoted state medical examiner administrator Nancy Bull as saying Woodbridge resident Nicole Mittendorf, 31, killed herself while in Shenandoah State Park. Her body was found Thursday about a mile from where she had left her car. No specific cause of death has been released. Family members remembered Nicole as a tri-athlete and runner who trained at the park.
