** No charges for patient who shot and killed attending Maryland paramedic

UNITED STATES NEWS

** Maryland police in Prince George’s County will apparently not be charging the patient who shot and killed a paramedic Friday during a call. That is the word from CNN (Faith Karimi/April 16) which said the individual was released from custody without explanation. According to the news service, the unidentified man’s family originally hailed EMS to their Temple Hills home over a medical concern. When practitioners forced entry after receiving no answer at the door, the man, 61, opened fire. John Ulmschneider, 39, died immediately while fellow practitioner Kevin Swain, 19, sustained four gunshot wounds. He remains in hospital in serious condition. Ulmschneider, who had worked EMS for 13 years, leaves a wife and 2-year-old daughter behind.
