** Utah man arrested after threatening to shoot paramedics aiding his wife
** Prosecutors seeking bank records for missing Indiana EMT
UNITED STATES NEWS
** Utah police in Tooele arrested a man Thursday after he tried to prevent his ill wife from going
to hospital. That is the word from The Associated Press (February 25) which said the unidentified
individual, 48, now faces charges of making terrorist threats and evading police. According to the
newspaper, the man first threatened to shoot paramedics and police as they loaded the woman into
the ambulance. He then followed the prehospital unit with his truck, causing damage to two police
cruisers who were also accompanying EMS. Despite the man’s escapades, however, his wife was
safely transported to hospital. There is no word on the nature of her condition.
** Police in Rising Sun, Indiana say an EMT who apparently disappeared Monday did so after
being questioned by police about money missing from his service. WLWT 5 (February 26) said Craig
Whitham, 42, who works for Aurora Emergency Service, is also the organization’s treasurer.
Charges have not yet been filed, but WSMV (February 25) said prosecutors have made a formal
request to obtain his bank records dating back to January 1st to determine if he has any involvement
in the theft. At this point, however, Whitham’s whereabouts remain a mystery. Cousin Angel Adams
said they do know he had his ID and some credit cards on him when he vanished. Adams told the news
service that so far police are not indicating the credit cards have been used.
