** Australian medic punched twice in the face by patient during call
UNITED KINGDOM NEWS
** A Rochdale woman has been handed a curfew as punishment for kicking a paramedic in the face
and urinating in the ambulance. That is the word from ITV News (February 18) which said Sarah
Bradley, 29, was given the 12 week 7 to 7 order after pleading guilty to assault in the undated
incident. According to the newspaper, Bradley, who was drunk at the time, also shoulder checked
one of the medics out the door of the vehicle. Initially docile, she became more
agitated as treatment progressed. Along with the above mentioned sentence, she has also been
tasked with paying 200 pounds in court costs and 50 pounds to each of the two medics who
attended on her.
AUSTRALIA NEWS
** An early Tuesday morning call in Townsville played out with a patient attacking a paramedic and
leaving him with facial injuries. That is the word from The Townsville Bulletin
(Kristopher Anderson/February 17) which said the 1 a.m. call originally hailed EMS for an
unconscious man. Once the patient, 45, was loaded into the ambulance, he became aggressive
after regaining his senses. He then punched the attending medic, 28, twice in the face, causing
bruising and a small cut on the nose. A police officer accompanying the EMS unit then assisted
in restraining the man. There is no word yet on whether charges will be laid.
