** Police in Stephensville, Texas arrested a Morgan Mill EMT Friday after he fired on them when they
responded to his home to prevent his potential suicide. The Stephensville Empire-Tribune
(Sara Vanden Berge/September 8) said the incident involving Cody Miller took place around 7 a.m.
According to the newspaper, the 911 call indicated the subject was armed and prepared to fire on anyone
who approached. Once on-scene, police say shots hit their vehicle and whizzed over their heads when they
took cover near the cruiser’s trunk. The shooting ended after Miller surrendered following a cell phone talk
with his girlfriend. Deputy Jerry Sharp, who knew Miller and attended the scene, said the two had dealt with a
patient’s suicide threat only days earlier. He said the medic’s demeanor at that time seemed normal.
There is no word yet on what charges Miller will face.
