UNITED STATES NEWS
** New York police in Bergen have identified the EMT killed Wednesday after an ambulance
collided with the rear of a construction backhoe. The Buffalo News (Mike Pettinella/September 24)
said Barry G. Miller, 50, who was also the Genesee County coroner, was a 31 year veteran of the
local fire department. According to the newspaper, Miller also ran his own business called Miller
Millworks. On Wednesday morning, he was in the front passenger seat of the EMS unit when the
crash happened around 7:15 a.m. He was transported to Batavia’s United Memorial Medical Center
but was pronounced dead on arrival. Police said the driver of the ambulance did not see the backhoe
because of the glare from the sun and foggy conditions. Two other medics in the rear of the rig were
treated and released from hospital. Funeral services are expected to take place Tuesday in Bergen.
