** A North Carolina man will likely plead guilty Friday in the April 14, 2012 murder of a US combat medic. WRAL (August 3) said Nicholas Michael Holbert has struck a deal with prosecutors to serve life in prison without the possibility of parole in relation to the death of Fort Bragg medic Kelli Bordeaux. Bordeaux disappeared after spending time with Holbert at a Fayetteville bar. Her remains were discovered last year. Holbert was tagged with first degree kidnapping and first degree murder. Bordeaux, whose husband was out of town at the time of the murder, served with the 601st Area Support Medical Company 44th Medical Brigade.

** A Branson, Missouri EMT could face up to 30 years in federal prison without parole after pleading guilty Tuesday to using a 9-year-old boy to make pornography. The News Leader (John Swedien/August 4) said Nicholas James Dickerson, 30, admitted abusing the child at his fire station. According to the newspaper, Dickerson was caught after selling his phone to an area business. An employee at the company found the offensive snaps and alerted police. Along with a lengthy jail sentence, Dickerson could also be tasked with paying a $250,000 fine. At the time of his crime, he was employed with the Western Taney County Fire Protection District.
