** Nova Scotia man charged with assaulting Ontario paramedic at MVA scene
** Illinois woman arrested for fraud sprays medics with blood, IV fluid;then attempts to flee hospital bound ambulance

** A Nova Scotia man will appear in a Brampton, Ontario court September 18th on charges he assaulted a paramedic at an MVA scene Saturday. The Mississauga News (Louie Rosetta/July 27) said Dartmouth resident Luke Kendall, 32, has also been tagged with uttering threats, impaired driving, and excess blood alcohol. According to the newspaper, Kendall allegedly attacked the Peel Region paramedic as the latter attempted to treat him around 9 p.m. Kendall had crashed his commercial truck on Highway 401 after apparently losing control and hitting a guardrail. Drunk at the time, he earned himself an immediate 90 day licence suspension. His truck was also impounded for a period of 7 days. There is no word on whether or not the medic suffered any injuries in the onslaught.

** A Chicago, Illinois woman has been hit with a rack of charges after she attempted to flee an ambulance following a fraud arrest for using bogus gift cards. That is the word from The Times (Joyce Russell/July 27) which said the Friday incident involving Khadijah Terry, 21, played out after Terry attempted to evade jail transport by falsely claiming she needed an ambulance because she was pregnant and bleeding. Once inside the unit, she pulled out her IV and sprayed medics with both blood and fluid. She then exited the vehicle before being tackled by medics and then restrained. After slapping a police officer, she was taken to Porter County Jail. Terry now faces several felonies, including fraud, identity deception, and battery to a law enforcement officer. She has also been tagged with the misdemeanour of resisting law enforcement. In addition, Terry is wanted on two outstanding warrants.
