** Police in Sioux Falls, South Dakota have issued a warrant for an area paramedic accused of stealing money from a dead patient. That is the word from The Argus Leader (Megan Raposa/July 15) which said Nicholas David Dahl, 35, allegedly took the cash June 30th. According to the newspaper, the bills were found in Dahl’s ambulance backpack. Police said the wallet and funds were originally sitting on a table at the door of the patient’s home. While the body was being removed, officers noticed the wallet was now empty. A spokesman for Paramedics Plus where Dahl worked said he has since been fired.
** A Tallahassee, Florida man is dead after first fleeing an ambulance and then being shot by a homeowner during an attempted break-in Tuesday. The Tallahassee Democrat (Karl Etters/July 15) said Jerod Clemons, 27, was first taken into custody by police earlier in the evening for trying to burgle homes. After claiming he had ingested “a Molly”, an agitated and sweaty Clemons was placed in an ambulance for hospital transport. Shortly afterwards, he scuffled with EMTs and escaped the prehospital rig. The resident who shot him around 12:35 a.m. said Clemons threatened to kill both him and his wife. A Havana resident, Clemons had served time previously for aggravated battery, burglary, and trafficking in stolen property.
