** North Carolina paramedic arrested for shooting, killing acquaintance

** A North Carolina medic in New Hanover County has been charged with first-degree murder in the Friday shooting death of an acquaintance. The Star News Online (F.T. Norton/June 26) said Dennis Robert Westberg, 37, allegedly committed the crime around 6 a.m. According to the newspaper, Westberg, who is a former US Navy corpsman, reported the incident himself to police. He told authorities the unidentified victim came at him after first threatening him. Having worked hospital EMS since 2004, Westberg is currently being held in jail without bail.
