** The leader of the Juarez drug cartel, believed to be responsible for the 2010 death of a paramedic, has been captured, Mexican authorities say. That is the word from Fox 28 (Faran Fronczak/April 20) which said Jesus Aguyyo, who also goes by the moniker El Chooyeen, was taken into custody Sunday near the US border. According to the news site, Aguyyo allegedly killed the medic, as well as two police officers and a doctor via a car bomb. He is also connected to a 2012 bar bombing in which 15 people died.

** A Bathurst paramedic has taken a protective order out against a patient who not only assaulted him one month ago but threatened to harm the EMS provider and his family. The Western Advocate (Nadine Morton/April 21) said the man, who is a known alcohol and drug addict, issued the threats while attending the ambulance station Sunday. Ambulance Service of New South Wales Inspect Rhys Dive said the man is also a frequent 000 abuser who often hails EMS for non emergencies. As a result of the stepped up aggression, the service has flagged the man’s address as a no-go zone.
