** Texas woman indicted on ambulance theft charges

** A Texas woman, who stole an ambulance last month from outside a medical center, has been indicted by a grand jury for the crime. That is the word from Forney.com (Matthew Richards/April 13) which said Kaufman resident Jennifer Lee Luke, 34, has been tagged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, theft greater than $100,000 and less than $200,000, and evading arrest or detention with a vehicle. According to the news site, Luke remains in jail pending the posting of a bond. She was apprehended by police following a high speed chase that ended with the deployment of a spike belt.
** Baltimore first responders honoured the life of LODD medic Cpt. Eric Steciak at their annual Saturday banquet. The Baltimore Sun (April 13) said the tribute involved a slide show for the practitioner who died January 6th while responding to a call. According to the newspaper, Steciak was hit by a truck. West Friendship Volunteer Fire Department President Carroll Roles said Steciak was very accomplished in EMS. She also said the department had been blessed to have him in their employ.
