** Mississippi police in Monroe County were forced to use a taser in an ambulance Sunday after an aggressive and drunk patient refused to stop pumelling an attending paramedic. The Monroe News (January 27) said the incident, which resulted in the medic being treated in hospital for an injured hand, began at around 9 p.m. at an area apartment block. According to the newspaper, the 41-year-old patient began his onslaught with verbal abuse before becoming physical. He was restrained, but broke free to launch several punches at the provider trying to help him. When the patient refused to stop, the ambulance pulled over and a following police officer entered the rear to cab to tase the man. He was then placed in handcuffs, arrested, and taken to jail charged with assaulting a paramedic and resisting arrest.

** A Gold Coast, New South Wales man will next appear in court March 31st on charges he allegedly spat on a female paramedic trying to aid him. The Gold Coast Bulletin (Meaghan Weymes/January 27) said Lance William Yeomans allegedly let loose with his saliva January 10th after EMS was called to treat him following a bike/car accident. According to the newspaper, the spittle made its way into the female provider’s mouth and eyes. Yeomans then told a police officer he had Hep C. Yeomans, who has been charged with serious assault and breach of bail, denies the action. He is currently out on bail and must comply with a disease test order.
