** Funeral services have been set for Saturday at 2 p.m. in Lee, New Hampshire for an EMT who died last
Wednesday of carbon monoxide poisoning. WCVB (December 2) said Diane Nugent, 51, of Nottingham,
succumbed to fumes from a garage generator. Nugent had gone into the detached structure to refuel the
machine during last week’s snowstorms. Nugent’s mother, Florence Veber, said her daughter was only
gone about 15 minutes when she realized something was wrong and found her dead around 8:15 a.m.
She said Diane would be remembered as a gentle and kind person who was always ready to help others.
** An Amarillo, Texas man has been charged with assault and leaving the scene of an accident with injuries
after attacking a female paramedic Sunday. That is the word from the Amarillo Globe-News
(Jim McBride/December 2) which said Zachary Joel Martin, 21, hit the practitioner in the arm with a closed
fist. Martin was initially being questioned by the medic as to injuries he might have sustained from the
car/truck crash a moment before. According to the newspaper, he was initially cooperative before fleeing
on foot around 2:30 a.m. He was taken into custody some 3 hours later after police found identifying
information in the Honda he left at the scene.
