** A former Ambulance Tasmania paramedic pleaded guilty Thursday to stealing controlled drugs from his workplace. That is the word from The Examiner (Caroline Tang/October 2) which said Longford resident Timothy James Millwood, 50, changed his plea at the last minute after maintaining his innocence for nearly a year. According to the newspaper, Millwood copped to 13 tags of stealing morphine and one of having used the drug. In addition, he pleaded guilty to one count of pilfering midazolam and one count of possessing midazolam. The tags relate to incidents occurring between June and July of 2012. Millwood resigned from his EMS job Friday. Sentencing has been set for December 11th.

** Autopsy results are pending for a South Lake Tahoe, Florida paramedic/firefighter who died suddenly Sunday. KTVN (October 1) said the medical examination is being conducted in conjunction with a separate investigation aimed at determining why Brandon Mitch Underhill, 34, passed away. According to the news site, Underhill had worked with the Lake Valley Fire Protection District for eight years. He leaves behind a wife and two small children. A memorial service has been set for October 20th.
