** A former West, Texas paramedic, charged with possessing bomb making materials, has accepted a plea deal. The Associated Press (October 9) said attorney Jonathan Sibley appeared before a judge Wednesday to request a time extension on the case to finalize details. According to the newspaper, Sibley’s client Bryce Ashley Reed, 31, was scheduled to go to trial October 15th. Reed was arrested May 9th, a few short weeks after a fertilizer plant blast in the town killed 15 people and leveled countless properties. Reed has never been connected to the blast.

** Flights out of Aberdeen International Airport were suspended for three hours yesterday after a Scottish Air Ambulance Service aircraft left the runway following steering difficulties. The BBC (October 10) said the 11:49 a.m. incident involving the Beechcraft King Air 200 occurred during a non emergency transfer from Lerwick. According to the news site, the plane came to rest on the grass. No one was injured in the mishap. Gama Aviation, which operates the aircraft, said a full investigation into the failure is now underway.
