** Australian paramedic investigated for alleged drug tampering

** Queensland police in Brisbane are investigating a city paramedic accused of tampering with drug vials. ABC News (September 1) said the medic has been suspended with pay pending the outcome of the investigation. According to the newspaper, the unidentified practitioner came under scrutiny after more than 100 morphine containers were found to have been breached. Police are remaining mum on how the tampering was done and whether or not a second substance was added to the ampoules.

** The iconic flag. raised above the rubble of the former World Trade Center where hundreds of EMS and fire personnel perished on 9/11, has been lost. That, at least, is the supposition of the Daily Mail (September 2) which said a new documentary claims the flag vanished shortly after it was flown at the site. According to the newspaper, the “The Flag” claims the item is likely in the hands of a first responder who is keeping it as a momento. A fake flag, meanwhile, circulated to a New York Yankees game post 9/11 and even flew onboard an aircraft carrier as it sent planes to bomb Afghanistan. Ironically, the fake flag is also now lost. The documentary airs today on CNN at 9 p.m. central.
