The Staten Island Advance (September 4) said Terrence Boston, 49, was remembered by family and friends at a commemoration in Suitland, Maryland. A firefighter/EMT with the District of Columbia Fire Department for 12 years, Boston grew up largely in Slidell, Louisiana and had been married for the last decade to a paramedic/firefighter from Fairfax, Virginia. ** A Mississippi man, accused of running down a paramedic and killing an ambulance patient July 31st, will continue to cool his heels in jail. The Clarion Ledger (September 4) said Robert Lee Howard Jr., 44, has been denied bond in relation to the death of Jessie Lee Thomas, 71, and the injuring of medic Jennifer Hesselbein, 27. Howard allegedly hit Thomas and Hesselbein as the latter was loading the former into the ambulance. Subsequent blood alcohol tests showed Howard’s level at 0.02. He also had traces of cocaine, hydrocodone, and sleeping pills present in the sample. Howard’s lawyer said Howard suffered from seizures, as well as kidney and liver disease. Hesselbein, meanwhile, continues to recover from her injuries. She has undergone seven of what is expected to be many surgeries.
