AUSTRIA NEWS
** The alleged killer of a paramedic and three police officers has apparently been found dead in a burned out home in Melk. The Associated Press (September 17) said police found the charred remains of Alois Huber,55, at a farmhouse Wednesday. It is believed he killed himself. According to the news service, the corpse was found in a basement cellar some 24 hours after the shooter sought refuge at the site during a 12 hour standoff. Autopsy results are pending. Huber, a suspected poacher, apparently began his killing spree early Tuesday after being stopped by police outside Vienna for  illegal hunting. He fled, shooting a police officer at a checkpoint. He then shot the paramedic as he exited the ambulance to tend to the officer. A second policeman was shot at a roadblock, while the third officer was found shot dead in his patrol car. The latter had first gone missing. It is believed Huber shot him after first carjacking him. The name the shooter’s victims have now been released. Paramedic Johann Dorfwirth died in the spree alongside policemen Johann Ecker, 51, Manfred Daurer,44, and Roman Baumgartner, 38.
