** A Jackson, Mississpi paramedic continues to recover in hospital after a last Wednesday incident in which she was hit by a car while treating a patient. WAPT (August 2) said American Medical Response practitioner Jennifer Heselbein is recuperating at the University of Mississippi Medical Center from life threatening injuries sustained in the accident. According to the news site, Heselbein was loading a pedestrian struck by a vehilce into her ambulance when a truck hit both her and the patient. The patient died at the scene. The driver of the truck, Robert Howard, has been charged with aggravated DUI causing a death and aggravated DUI causing an injury.
** An Oklahoma City, Oklahoma paramedic is being lauded by the public, after he built a wheelchair ramp for a former patient. News9 (August 4) said Harrison Walker undertook the task for Charisse Paul after responding to a call at her home. Paul told Walker no ramp was installed because of the high expense. Walker then built the structure with donations from his colleagues.
