UNITED STATES NEWS
** A Utah paramedic will appear in court August 27th on charges he obtained fake prescriptions. KSL (McKenzie Romero/August 7) said Unified Fire Authority EMS practitioner Bruce Bergdahl, 44, was charged July 25th with obtaining prescription drugs under false pretenses x 3. According to the news station, Brigham City resident Bergdahl acquired the false prescriptions in January and March of this year. He was arrested in May. Bergdahl’s fire assistant chief, Marlon Jones, was also similarly charged.
** A female Mississippi paramedic, severely injured after being hit by a truck at an MVA scene July 31st, is apparently recovering. That, at least, is the word from WAPT (August 7) which said Jackson resident Jennifer Hesselbein, 27, remains in the University of Mississippi Medical Center’s surgical intensive care unit. The news site said she is making gradual, but steady, progress in returning to health. The driver who hit her, meanwhile, has been charged with drunk driving x 2. Along with Hesselbein, patient Jessie Lee Thomas, 71, was also hit in the accident. Thomas, however, died at the scene as she was being loaded into the ambulance.
