** Off duty California paramedic shot in his car;remains in intensive care

** Charges dropped against New York medic in scuffle with cop

UNITED STATES NEWS

** An off duty California paramedic is in hospital battling for his life after being shot Tuesday in what police believe may have been a botched robbery. KGO (April 2) said Quinn Boyer of Oakland was found still behind the wheel of his car with a bullet to his head around noon time. According to the news site, authorities think the car drove into a ravine after another car driver shot Boyer while the two were stopped at an intersection. Boyer hit the gas pedal after being wounded which then propelled the vehicle over a median and tree before coming to rest in the gulley. No information has been published yet on the suspect in question, save that he may have driven a brown car. Boyer remains in Highland Hospital in critical condition.

** Charges have now been dropped, but a Monday scuffle in which a New York paramedic shoved a transit cop from the rear of the ambulance initially ended with the practitioner being booked. That is the word from the New York Post (Georgette Roberts/Jessica Simeone/Bob Fredericks/April 2) which said provider Andrew Haley was originally arrested for obstructing governmental administration. According to the newspaper, Haley got tagged for it when he took issue with the cop’s refusal to allow the female patient her privacy by closing the ambulance’s rear doors. Haley was about to do an electrocardiogram and the woman’s chest would be exposed. Cuffed at the scene, he was taken to Transit District Precinct 32 for booking. He was released several hours later after the charges were rescinded.
