** Ohio medic recovering in hospital after being hit by car while on duty

** UK volunteers driving fundraised ambulances to war torn Syria

** An Ohio paramedic is recovering in hospital after being hit by an out-of-control car while attempting to unload a patient from an ambulance Friday. 10TV (March 15) said the mishap occurred around 3 p.m. on the main street in Lancaster. According to the news service, the driver of the car was an elderly woman. Initial information indicates the medic’s injuries are not serious. There is no word on whether charges will be laid in relation to the accident.

** In an effort to aid war hit EMS personnel in Syria, a group of UK volunteers are driving ex-NHS ambulances to the country. The Bolton Echo (March 18) said the prehospital rigs, purchased through fundraising efforts, will include one from Bolton and five others from Scotland. According to the newspaper, the EMS rigs will be packed with medical supplies. Expected to take about five days, the journey will end up at the northwestern city of Idlib. Following the delivery of the ambulances, drivers will return by air via Turkey. The 4,000 mile trek is expected to begin Sunday.
