** Alabama man set to be arrested for stealing ambulance and attempted theft of horse

** Russian medic suffers head wounds and finger fracture after patient’s sister attacks

** Alabama police in Boaz are expected soon to arrest an area man for stealing an ambulance from a local emergency room. WAFF (January 28) said the man is also suspected of attempting to make off with a horse after ditching the EMS unit. According to the news site, the unnamed offender took the prehospital rig after being transported to hospital following a drunken car crash. He then left the unit on a street side and tried, but failed, to saddle a horse to further his getaway. The abandoned ambulance was found the next morning. Police told the news site the suspect was known and apprehension was imminent.

** A female Moscow paramedic is recovering after being attacked by the sister of a patient this past weekend. The Moscow News (Evgeniya Chaykovskaya/January 28) said the incident, which took place in the Elektrostal suburb, saw the inebriated woman break the medic’s finger and smash her head into a wall. According to the newspaper, the woman’s anger ignited after practitioners refused to transport the patient to a psychiatric hospital without the necessary papers. A second provider was unharmed in the incident which saw police hailed to deal with the woman. There is no word on the extent of the 45-year-old practitioner’s injuries.
