** Former New Mexico paramedic convicted of raping boy

** Washington D.C. woman killed in ambulance/car chain reaction accident

** Sentencing has been set for April 12th for a former New Mexico paramedic convicted of raping an 11-year-old Albuquerque boy. The Las Cruces Sun News (January 23) said Genaro Sandoval, 39, could face up to 41 1/2 years in prison. Sandoval was charged with criminal sexual penetration of a child under 13, kidnapping and sexual exploitation of a child. DNA samples from another case in which Sandoval pleaded guilty led to the current conviction. He is still facing charges involving the molestation of five other boys. Sandoval remains in jail without bond.

** A Friday ambulance/car accident in Washington, D.C. has claimed the life of a 31-year-old woman. CBS DC (January 27) said Waldorf resident Christina Latrice King died around 2 p.m. after her vehicle struck a car and created a chain reaction accident. According to the news service, the initial smash-up saw King then hit the ambulance which, in turn, crashed into two other vehicles. Both paramedics, as well as five other peoplek were transported to hospital. None of the injured suffered life threatening injuries. Police continue to investigate.
