** Yet another community search has been set for Saturday in an effort to find missing Fayetteville, North Carolina combat medic Kelli Bordeaux. The Fayetteville Observer (Nancy McCleary/July 3) said the undertaking, which will begin at 8:30 a.m., will explore a variety of terrain, including dense woods, creeks, and increasingly elevated areas. According to the newspaper, volunteers will also mark the three month anniversary of her disappearance on July 14th with a commemorative butterfly launch. Fort Bragg soldier Bordeaux went missing April 14th after a late night visit to a city bar. Her husband was out of town at the time. However, she is known to have been driven home by a person later identified as a registered sex offender.

** Saskatchewan medics in both Regina and Saskatoon are battling it out for victory in the Sirens for Life blood donation competition. The Regina Leader Post (Tonaya Marr/July 4) said the event, which kicked off Wednesday, will also see participation from each city’s fire and police community. According to the newspaper, this is the eighth time the two locales have gone head to head. In 2011, Regina took the prize, beating Saskatoon 160 donations to 88. Regina is shooting this year for 230 donations by July 31. Losers fly the winning team’s flag for a day.
