** Trial for North Carolina soldier accused of killing combat medic indefinitely postponed

** UK man convicted of killing trainee paramedic

** Army officials in North Carolina have postponed indefinitely the court martial of a soldier accused of stabbing to death a military medic stationed in Iraq. The Free-Lance Star (Rusty Dennen/September 20) said Spc. Nicholas Bailey, 28, will not be tried in the near future because of deployments at Fort Bragg. According to the newspaper, Bailey was charged with negligent homicide, obstruction of justice, and giving false statements to investigators in relation to the death of Spc. Morganne McBeth, 19. McBeth was stabbed to death in July of 2010. Another soldier involved in the case, Spc. Tyler Cain, was convicted in April of conspiracy to obstruct justice and providing false statements to investigators. Along with being busted in rank, he was jailed for 45 days.

UNITED KINGDOM NEWS

** Sentencing has been set for November 4 for a Nottingham man convicted of killing a trainee paramedic in July. The Harborough Mail (September 20) said Jacob Dunne, 19, admitted punching Londoner James Hodgkinson, 28, outside a city bar in the Old Market Square;Hodgkinson died nine days later in hospital. According to the newspaper, Dunne clocked Hodgkinson without provocation when the latter went to the drinking establishment to celebrate a cricket game. Hodgkinson fell on the floor and hit his head. Despite the manslaughter conviction, Dunne remains free on bail.
