** Funeral services held for New Jersey EMT killed in Hurricane Irene aftermath

** Kentucky EMS service opens investigation after employees suspected of prescription pill trafficking

** Funeral services were held Wednesday for a New Jersey EMT killed during a Hurricane Irene swift water rescue operation Sunday. The Windsor-Hights Herald (Victoria Hurley-Schubert/September 1) said the commemoration for Michael Kenwood, 39, took place at Robert Schoem’s Menorah Chapel in Parmus. According to the newspaper, hundreds showed up to pay their respects. Kenwood died August 28 after falling into the surging waters blanketing Princeton Township. He leaves behind a wife and 3-year-old daughter.

** Metro EMS in Louisville, Kentucky is expected to shortly begin an internal review, after suspecting some employees of prescription pill trafficking. That is the word from WAVE (Charles Gazaway/August 30) which said the organization has already fired one EMT when he tested positive for having taken marijuana. According to the news site, none of the four other suspects has been charged with any crime, despite being under criminal investigation. All are currently back at work.
