** Two North Carolina medics allegedly steal service radios;larceny charges pending

UNITED STATES NEWS

** A California paramedic beaten into a coma last March at a Dodger’s game is now suffering from two infections. That is the word from the LA Times (August 25) which said Bryan Stow, 42, has both a urinary tract infection and staph. The news comes just days after optimistic reports began circulating about his health. Stow, who suffered brain damage in the spring attack, has been recovering in a San Francisco hospital. Although requiring a shunt, the device can not be put in until the infections are under control.

** A pair of North Carolina paramedics could be charged with larceny after allegedly stealing EMS radios from their service. The Statesville Record & Landmark (August 24) said Iredell County EMS employee Jerry Calvin McIver III, 28, was arrested Tuesday. Justin Timothy Combs, 21, will share the same fate once a warrant has been issued. According to the newspaper, the alarm was raised July 27 after an EMS supervisor noticed the missing radios. There is no word on may have been the motivation behind the theft.
