** Utah paramedic fighting for life after MVA with drunk driver

UNITED STATES NEWS

** Los Angeles police have arrested a man in the March 31st attack on a Santa Clara paramedic at Dodger Stadium. The Associated Press (May 23) said Giovanni Ramirez, 31, has been charged with assault with a deadly weapon for the beating of Bryan Stow, 42. Ramirez, who remains in jail pending the posting of a $1 million bail, was apprehended after a tip from his parole officer. Stow, meanwhile, continues to recover at the San Francisco General and Trauma Center. Although he has been brought out of a medically induced coma, he is still unable to focus or look around.

** A Utah paramedic remains in very critical condition after being rear ended on his way to work by a drunk driver Sunday. Fox 13 Now (Brittany Green/May 22) said Gold Cross Ambulance practitioner Jonathan Bowers, of Taylorsville, was on the road around 6 a.m. when the accident occurred. According to the news station, the vehicle driven by Gabriel Perez-Gutierrez, 26, allegedly ran into one car which then propelled forward into two others. Bowers’ car apparently took most of the force of the impact. Perez-Gutierrez, who fled after the crash, was found hiding in a window well by witnesses who gave chase. He has been charged with felony DUI and hit-and-run.
