** South Carolina police lend a hand to snowbound paramedics trying to get to work

** Australia woman set to face court over spitting on and punching paramedics

UNITED STATES NEWS

** Snowbound paramedics, and other health professionals, in Darlington County, South Carolina were given a helping hand from police this past weekend via 4 x 4 rides to and from work. That is the word from WISTV (July 15) which said Sheriff’s deputies collected workers in groups based on shifts. Sherriff Wayne Bird said while his staff usually serve the community in a different way, EMS toilers, nurses, and doctors perform vital services for the public which can not cease from functioning. Most of the area sports secondary roads and long driveways,  making 2 wheel drive practically useless for exiting properties.

AUSTRALIA NEWS

** A 22-year-old Queensland woman is set to appear in court February 28 on charges she spat on and punched ambulance officers. The Northern Daily Leader (January 18) said the unidentified female, who launched her assault after waking from a passed out stupor, briefly pleaded not guilty in Tamworth court Monday. Charged with obstructing or hindering an ambulance officer by an act of violence, assaulting a police officer and resisting or hindering a police officer, the woman was arrested December 18. At the time she went ballistic, six police officers were needed to hold her down. The female paramedic, meanwhile, suffered several facial cuts during the tirade.
