** Chinese ambulance crew attacked after late arrival at school bus accident

** US military medic serving in Iraq uses Skype to watch his wife give birth to their twins

CHINA NEWS

** A slow ambulance response to an MVA in Hunan province Monday resulted in an angry mob attacking the ambulance and overturning it. That is the word from AOL News (December 27) which said the morning crash, involving a bus transporting children to school, may have occurred when road fog disoriented the driver, prompting the bus to enter a nearby creek. By the time EMS responded, nine children onboard had already died. Four others were transported to hospital where they were pronounced dead on arrival. A child missing from the crash site was also later found dead. Local authorities speaking on the incident said they could not confirm if ambulance personnel were injured in the melee.

** An Idaho medic serving in Iraq managed to see his twins born anyway last week, after he tuned in to the Internet application Skype. The Associated Press (December 27) said Boise based Sgt. First Class Mike Lewis even encouraged his wife while she was in the midst of delivering Gabriella and Owen. Spouse Heather Lewis said while having Mike present on site would have been preferable, it was the next best thing to him being there. Lewis is stationed with the National Guard.
