** Minnesota EMT/firefighter admits injecting himself with patient’s fentanyl

** Saskatchewan ambulance station blaze destroys ambulance, damages others

** A Virginia, Minnesota EMT/firefighter has pleaded guilty to injecting himself with part of a patient’s dose of Fentanyl while in the ambulance. That is the word from the Northland News Center (Melissa Burlaga/November 1) which said John Ditzler, 41, copped to fifth degree felony possession of drugs yesterday. According to the news site, Ditzler, who admitted using the morphine of other patients on two other occasions, will be sentenced in December. Ditzler had been with the local fire department for four years.

** Emergency services won’t likely be disrupted, but the cause of a Saturday fire at a Prince Albert, Saskatchewan ambulance garage remains a mystery. The CBC (October 31) said the blaze at the Parkland Ambulance Care locale erupted at around 2:45 p.m., destroying one ambulance and severely damaging three to four others. Service spokesman Brian Reichle said the units affected were out of service spares. An investigation into the incident has now begun.
