** Hard times Denver paramedic turned pizza delivery man offered new EMS job after saving man’s life

** White Detroit medic sues department for reverse discrimination

UNITED STATES NEWS

** A laid off Denver paramedic turned pizza delivery man is returning to EMS full time after saving a man’s life. That is the word from National Public Radio (July 22) which said Christopher Wuebben was offered a new job after doing lifesaving CPR on a pizza customer. According to the news station, Wuebben arrived at the door of George Linn’s house Friday just as Linn’s wife was dialling 911. A former military medic who served two tours in Iraq, Wuebben sprang into action reviving the man. Linn remains in intensive care at Swedish Medical Center.

** A Detroit, Michigan paramedic is having his time in court today, after he was wrongfully fired in 2009. ClickonDetroit.com (July 21) said Michael Christy’s whistleblower suit alleges reverse discrimination, harassment, and failure to promote. Off work for two months before being reinstated following an internal investigation, Christy, 42, who is white, said little has changed in his work atmosphere. Along with continued micromanagement from upper brass, he said he has received death threats. He has also not been financially compensated  for his unexpected time off work. While a Detroit fire department official did not dispute Christy’s version of events, he declined to comment because the case is still before the courts.
