** Ohio paramedic/firefighter killed in hunting accident;police investigating

** Most UK air ambulances back in air after volcanic ash disruption

** An Ohio paramedic/firefighter is dead after being killed in a hunting accident Sunday morning. That is the word from WKYC (Kim Wendell/April 19) which said Streetboro resident Ty Marlin died at the Short Creek Sportmen’s Club in Adena. The Twinsburg Bulletin (Andrew Schunk/April 19) said the shot killing Marlin was accidentally fired by his 15-year-old son who was attempting to unload the gun. Marlin, who was also a rescue diver, hazardous materials specialist, and fire safety inspector, began his EMS career with the Twinsburg Fire Department in 1993. Funeral services have been set for Friday at Streetsboro’s St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. His death remains under investigation.

** Most air ambulances in the UK are back flying, now that an alert over volcanic ash from an erupting Icelandic volcano has eased. That is the word from the BBC (April 19) which said choppers in places like Kent, Surrey, Sussex, and West Midlands have been given the OK to fly during emergencies. According to the news site, air EMS teams have been using ground transport to respond to calls since Friday. So far the specialist teams have dealt with 13 emergencies. Air Ambulance Chief Executive John Tickner said the situation is constantly under review to ensure that all flights remain safe.
