UNITED KINGDOM NEWS

** A Reading paramedic has been suspended after being videotaped last Wednesday giving five intoxicated female St. Patrick’s Day revelers a ride to a train station. That is the word from The Telegraph (March 19) which said the women were drinking from an open wine bottle, at one point kissing the practitioner good-bye at the crowded site. The medic, who works for the private ambulance company MediForce, had been providing night EMS cover by contract with the South Central Ambulance Service. Witnesses to the 10:30 p.m. incident indicated the EMS car’s blue lights were lit up and flashing when the vehicle approached. A spokesman for MediForce, meanwhile, denied the unit was lit up, saying it’s likely the practitioner was only offering a friendly ride to the inebriated group after determining no medical intervention was needed.
