CANADA NEWS

** A Newfoundland ambulance burst into flames Wednesday, after apparently overheating while attempting to climb a hill in Gros Morne National Park. CBC News (June 18) said the vehicle, which was near Rocky Harbour, had been en route to Corner Brook. According to the newspaper, no one was injured in the mishap. Shortly after encountering the trouble, medics pulled over and removed the patient and oxygen tanks from the unit. Within 15 minutes of the fire, the tires of the vehicle had blown off, while both the front and back were fully involved. RCMP Sgt. Randy Freeborn said it is possible the flames started after the unit’s coolant line ruptured.
