** Hamilton, Ontario medics mourn sudden loss of colleague

** Pennsylvania paramedic charged with indecently assaulting ER nurse

** EMS providers in Hamilton, Ontario are mourning the loss of one of their own, after practitioner Zach Green-Herbert, 24, died at home while off duty August 18. Green-Herbert, who had worked with the city’s EMS service since December 2006, was a PCP;he became full time in May of 2007. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Morris Funeral Chapel;interment followed at Bowmanville Cemetery. Those interested in making donations in Green-Herbert’s name can do so by sending funds to the Canadian Cancer Society.

** A Lansdale, Pennsylvania paramedic is in hot water, after he allegedly assaulted an emergency room nurse August 7. That is the word from The Reporter (August 22) which said Trappe Ambulance worker Mark Wesley Garner, 43, has been charged with indecent assault for an incident that took place at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. According to the newspaper, Garner rubbed his front section against the nurse’s back while she was attempting to record information on a 10-year-old patient. The nurse told police Garner pressed against her in a grinding motion. Another nurse arriving in the room said Garner also made lewd gestures.

** A crew of Juarez, Texas paramedics got a surprise last Monday while en route to an execution scene. KTSM (August 21) said the practitioners were in the ambulance responding when they were warned off by a threat over the radio. According to the news station, the voice said medics would be shot if they proceeded to the call. Practitioners continued anyway, however, without incident. There is no word on whether police are investigating.
