** US medics invited to get cheaper eats Saturday at Hard Rock Cafe

** Texas air crash cause report not expected for a year

** Funeral service held for Texas air ambulance medic

UNITED STATES NEWS

** Funeral services were held Thursday for Cedar Park, Texas paramedic Stephanie Waters who died Sunday in an air ambulance crash near Huntsville. MyFox Austin (June 12) said the New Hope Baptist Church service brought EMS providers from across the state to pay respects. Waters, 27, was both the daughter and the wife of a paramedic. She will be buried in Liberty Hill.

** EMTs and paramedics looking to get a cheap meal Saturday should cast an eye to a Hard Rock Cafe where burgers can be had for 71 cents at 1971 prices. That’s the word from the Pittsburgh Tribune Review (June 12) which said the offering is only good for emergency workers and is being dubbed Burger Badge Bash. The second year running, the event requires those seeking the cheaper deal to provide an identification badge verifying their status as a public safety worker. The offer only pertains to eating in and not take-out orders. Limit is one item per person.

** A final report into the Sunday air ambulance crash that killed four people could take a full year to be complete. The Eagle (Holly Huffman/June 11) said that is the estimate from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigating the Texas mishap. Air Safety investigator Jennifer Kaiser told the newspaper her agency is currently conducting a detailed wreckage examination in Lancaster. Kaiser said once finished the conclusions would be presented to a five member Washington, D.C. review panel. A probable cause for the crash will then be released.
