UNITED STATES NEWS

** Hundreds of coworkers, friends, and relatives turned out Sunday to mourn Paintsville, Kentucky EMS Director Christa Burchett. The Daily Independent (Kenneth Hart/January 27) said the service, held in Louisa, drew emergency workers from as far afield as Ohio and West Virginia. Remembered as a tireless aid to others, Burchett was laid to rest at the Yatesville Lake Fred M. Vinson Veteran’s Memorial. Transported on the back of a fire truck, the casket bearinig Burchett’s body journeyed underneath an arch of fire truck ladders. Burchett died last Tuesday after being hit by an out of control coal truck. She was helping a female MVA victim to the ambulance at the time.
