** Alabama EMT/firefighter dies unexpectedly while at work
** Indiana man steals ambulance, leads police chase ending in Illinois

** Funeral services were held yesterday for an Alabama EMT-firefighter found unresponsive at his Montgomery station. FireRescue1 (March 17) said Haynes Ambulance practitioner Wayne Jeffers, 64, of Grady is believed to have died Sunday night after going to bed when he complained of feeling unwell. He is survived by his wife Lisa, 3 daughters, 2 sons, and several grandchildren.
** Charges are pending against a Gary, Indiana man whose alleged theft of an ambulance Tuesday ended after crossing the state line into Illinois. The San Francisco Chronicle (AP/March 19) said the bizarre incident played out with the unidentified 34-year-old taking the EMS unit from outside a dialysis clinic. According to the news service, the man travelled in the rig for some 30 miles before being stopped by police. No damage was done to the vehicle which was recovered in Chicago. There is no word on what motivated the heist.
