** Indiana medic escapes jail time after pleading guilty to stealing drugs from ambulance service
** Sweden about to field psychiatric ambulances for mental health emergencies

** A South Bend, Indiana paramedic, who pleaded guilty to stealing fentanyl from his ambulance service, has been given only one year of probation for the crime. WNDU (March 17) said Timothy Greenlee, 39, was given the penalty Monday for the felonies of official misconduct and theft. Originally handed one year for each tag, the sentence for both was suspended. He was charged April 15, 2013.

** In an effort to prevent people from committing suicide, Stockholm’s emergency services will soon be fielding mental health ambulances. That is the word from Radio Sweden (March 16) which said a 2 year pilot program with the vehicles will begin in September. According to the news station, the psychiatric ambulance is intended to get to patients before they make a fatal move. Project manager Frederick Bengtsson said attending medics on a psychiatric EMS unit will have specialized knowledge to deal with such emergencies.
