** A New York EMT has been charged with a Class A misdemeanor after allegedly hitting a bicyclist and then trying to flee the scene April 27th. That is the word from The Rockland Times (Dylan Skriloff/May 2) which said Chestnut Ridge resident Jonathan Fried, 49, apparently hit the man around 10:10 a.m. According to the newspaper, Fried was off duty at the time. The cycler was in a group which then surrounded Fried, preventing him from leaving. Biker Michael Elias, 50, sustained a collapsed lung, three broken ribs, and a badly fractured hip in the mishap. Police say the misdemeanor nature of the charge could be upped to a felony because of the nature of the injuries.
