** Trial date set on second round of charges against Nova Scotia medic accused of sexually assaulting women
** Alleged Colorado ambulance thief racks up more charges after apparently attacking police trying to
feed him

** A Nova Scotia paramedic, already on trial for allegedly sexually assaulting an elderly female patient,
will go to trial this time next year on charges he sexually assaulted 5 other females. That is the word from the
Chronicle Herald (November 6) which said James Duncan Keats, 48, faces tags for sexual assault x 5 and
breach of trust x 5 for incidents which apparently occurred between December 2012 and April 2013. The
complainants range in age from 24 to 64. Keats, who is suspended from his EMS job pending the outcome
of legal proceedings, is currently on trial in Windsor for the aforementioned case. He is under house arrest,
but free on a $20,000 recognizance.
UNITED STATES NEWS
** An alleged Colorado ambulance thief has had further charges racked up against him after police deputies
alleged he attacked them when they attempted to hand him his supper. That is the word from WFMY
(November 9) which said Fort Collins resident and university student Stefan Sortland, 18, now faces tags for
the felony of second degree assault and the misdemeanor charge of third degree assault. The charges are in
addition to proceedings related to the November 2nd theft of a Poudre Valley EMS ambulance. In that instance,
Sortland was originally arrested on suspicion of a both misdemeanors and felonies, including aggravated
vehicle theft, obstructing EMS, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. At the time, Sortland
was tasered to subdue him.
