** A Cochrane, Alberta paramedic is being commended after adopting an abused dog he helped rescue in September. CTV News (December 10) said the unidentified practitioner found the eight week old pup on a road side. The dog, which officials believe had been kicked in the head, was severely injured at the time, suffering fractures to his jaw and infection. Transporting the pup to the vet via ambulance, the medic stayed in touch with Rufus as he went through two months of surgeries and behaviour mod training. The two have now been reunited after vets deemed the shepherd mix fit for adoption.
