** Texas ambulance/SUV collision injures 5 medics, kills one civilian

** West Virginia medic dies after suffering seizure, crashing ambulance

** A head-on collision in Houston, Texas Monday sent five paramedics to hospital, one of whom suffered a broken leg. KHOU (November 26) said the crash, which killed the driver of an SUV, occurred in the early morning hours around 4 a.m. According to the news site, police are continuing to investigate the incident, but initial information indicates that SUV may have been travelling at a high rate of speed. The four other practitioners involved in the mishap were treated and released from hospital. No names have been released.

** A West Virginia medic is dead after suffering a seizure while behind the wheel of his ambulance this past weekend. WYMT (November 26) said Mingo County practitioner Chris Staggs, 35, died after his EMS unit crashed into a home. According to the news service, the rig first mounted a sidewalk and some church steps before striking a business awning and then the house. Staggs, a resident of Lenore, worked for Williamson’s STAT emergency medical services. Funeral services are pending.
