** A Montclair, New Jersey EMT is dead after being struck by another vehicle which may have been being pursued by police. The Examiner (Eric Braun/November 19) said Keith Chieppo, 30, died Monday after a collision with a car driven by James A. Sterling, 29. According to the newspaper, it remains unclear whether Sterling was the subject of a hot pursuit by police, or whether he was just being sought after a report of erratic driving. Three other people were injured in the mishap which also involved both a food truck and county transportation bus. Although most of the wounds were non life threatening, the patient Chieppo was transporting at the time was ejected on impact from the ambulance. Sterling, who remains in jail pending the posting of a $300,000 bond, has been charged with aggravated manslaughter, evading, driving with a suspended licence, and causing death and bodily injury. Chieppo leaves behind two young children and a five month old baby.
** Funeral services are being held Saturday for a Kalamazoo EMT killed early Sunday morning in an MVA. WOOD TV (November 21) said the memorial for Trevor Stuck, 23, is set for 10:30 a.m. at Augusta’s St. Ann Catholic Church. According to the newspaper, Stuck died around 3:16 a.m. when the vehicle he was in rolled over the median. A few minutes later a second vehicle entered the crash scene striking several of the first accident’s victims. Police are remaining tight lipped on how the initial mishap occurred. They are, however, continuing to investigate. Along with Stuck, other occupants of his vehicle who were also injured include a 22-year-old female, a 53-year-old female nurse, and a 46-year-old off duty police officer.
