UNITED STATES NEWS

** Two California men, charged in the March 2011 Dodger Stadium beating of a Santa Cruz paramedic, are now facing federal weapons charges as well. That is the word from the Huffington Post (May 22) which said Los Angeles residents Louie Sanchez and Marvin Norwood could face up to a decade in prison on the new tags. According to the newspaper, police believe Norwood was hiding several guns for Sanchez. Both men are expected to appear next week in court. The duo have already entered a not guilty plea in the case involving brain injured practitioner Bryan Stow.

** Though they are remaining mum on details, North Carolina police in Fayetteville say they are making some progress in the case involving the mysterious disappearance of a female Fort Bragg combat medic. The Fayetteville Observer (May 18) said detectives have traveled to Spc. Kelli Bordeaux’ hometown in St. Cloud, Florida to question residents. Police Sgt. James Phillips told reporters the trip had been productive to the investigation. Bordeaux, 23, disappeared April 14th after attending an area bar. Though married, her husband was away at the time of her disappearance. Her last known whereabouts were in the company of a registered sex offender who drove her home from the drinking establishment. No one has been charged in connection with her disappearance and several area searches have yielded no information.
