** A Poppleton combat medic serving in Afghanistan, who died a day before his 24th birthday in a bomb attack, left 100,000 pounds to his friends for a post funeral Las Vegas jaunt. That is the word from the Daily Mail (June 20) which said David Hart, who gained the funds through a life insurance policy, intended the cash for 32 of his friends and their girlfriends. Detailing his wishes in a letter, Hart also left money to an injured Marines charity and his family. Joining the Royal Marines in 2009, Hart had only qualified as a combat medic shortly before his death. Commanding Officer Lt. Col Paul James said Hart was considerate, impressive, and courageous. Hart died July 8, 2010.
