** Air ambulance choppers in Victoria, Australia to be first in world to have paramedics carry and administer blood products

** Memorial set for Saturday for US combat medic killed in Afghanistan

** Air ambulance medics in Victoria are making history by becoming the first chopper service providers in the world to carry and administer blood products. That is the word from 9News (April 23) which said previously blood products were transported to call scenes from hospitals;air medics could then administer them. According to the newspaper, two Melbourne based aircraft will be outfitted to carry type O blood. In the next few months, refrigerators will also be installed on choppers serving southwest Victoria and the Latrobe Valley.

** Family, friends, and colleagues will gather this Saturday in Pleasanton, California to pay tribute to a combat medic killed in Afghanistan. The Contra Costa Times (Sophia Kazmi/April 21) said the memorial for Spec. Jameson Lindskog, 23, will include personal tributes from loved ones, as well as a flag and medal presentation to Lindskog’s parents. Taps and a three volley salute will also be done. Lindskog, who was killed March 29 in eastern Kunar province, was born in San Mateo. In later years, he divided his time between his parents’ homes in Livermore and Pleasanton.
